Australian open-source intelligence (OSINT) software company, Fivecast, has been awarded the Department of Defense Innovation, Science, and Technology Excellence Impact Award at the ADSTAR 2024 Summit.
Fivecast’s data science team, with over 20 years of combined experience, has developed AI-enabled risk detection frameworks that are integrated into its OSINT solutions. These frameworks address critical challenges in national security, defense, and law enforcement, including issues such as violent extremism, human trafficking, and organized crime.
The company’s innovative product, Fivecast MATRIX, utilizes generative AI to enhance data compliance assessment, transforming the risk assessment process. and enabling intelligence teams to harness advanced AI capabilities without requiring specialized expertise.
Fivecast has collaborated with key organizations such as the US Department of Defense and the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA). Notable projects include an US$8.8 million prototype developed for the US DoD and a A$10 million project with AGSVA, contributing to advancements in defense technology.
Fivecast is an Australian Government Defense Industry Security Program (DISP) member, maintains UK Cyber Essentials certification, its software products are NIST 800-171 compliant, and its executive, tradecraft, and development teams hold security clearances for Australia, the US and UK. Fivecast is also the first Australian company to be awarded a Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) project with the US Department of Defense.
In April 2023, Fivecast raised almost US$20 million (AU$30) in a Series A funding round, which it planned to invest in expansion and service contracts in key markets including Five Eyes nations, amid a significant rise in the need for data and risk analytics among governments and corporations.
